Associate
Ms. Karr is a registered nurse with substantial marketing, management consulting, and health policy experience. Her projects have focused on medical care quality and performance improvement, program evaluation, and health policy analysis.
Ms. Karr has assisted hospital teams improve service line performance and quality of care. She has analyzed Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions in rural hospitals to identify patients whose needs may be met by alternative levels of care. Her program evaluation work includes a multi-year needs assessment of HIV educational efforts in the Military and the evaluation of state demonstration projects aimed at improving health data infrastructure and quality data reporting along the U.S.-Mexico Border. She also has performed several cost analysis studies on new medical technologies and pharmaceuticals, including an evaluation of the effectiveness of a non-powered fluid mattress in preventing pressure ulcers.
Ms. Karr has worked on several projects related to health care policy. She assisted the American Nurses Association in developing proposals for improving quality of care under the Medicare program and provided assistance to a presidential commission in a study of public opinion on issues related to human tissue storage.
Prior to affiliating with Dyckman & Associates, Ms. Karr held senior consultant and management positions with CHPS Consulting. At the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, she facilitated and supported research efforts and cared for patients receiving outpatient oncology care. Ms. Karr received her M.B.A and B.S. in marketing management from Virginia Tech. She also received her B.S. in Nursing from Radford University.
